What goes in a character journal?

Posted in Character Journals

Diary, journal, blog, file-keeping, IC to-do lists, memos. Any sort of in-character recollection or commentary, whether private, locked to specific individuals, or open to comment.

Not Posted in Character Journals

1. OOC Character or Canon information.
2. OOC Commentary of any kind; the journal belongs to your pup, not you.
3. Open to the game gathering posts. These should be submitted to the moderation queue in yo_gotham instead.
4. Person-to-person 'communication' - texting, voice mail, email, courier pigeon, radio, etc. These are posted and played in yo_comms
5. Narrative threads or logs.

How do I post in/comment on a character journal?

1. All posts in character journals should be first person and IC.
2. All posts in character journals should note whether they are private, locked to, or open. If locked, there should be a list of who it is locked to. Do not use filters, because muns should be able to read all character journals even if the pups can't.
3. All comments to Character Journals should be first person and IC.
4. No OOC feedback to Character Journals at any time.

What kind of journal/technology can my character use?

Prior to the Restoration of the Internet

1. Everything will be low-tech. Journals, etc. will be paper or private computer/pda if you have solar powered comps.
2. Anything posted in the form of a journal or blog will be private and will remain private even after tech is restored. That means no commenting on journal entries.

After the Restoration of the Internet

1. Familiar services won't be available. Their architecture is not stored in Gotham.
2. Oracle will create a livejournal clone fairly quickly. She's got a copy of the source code stored from back in the day when it was all free.
3. Other computer geekery characters are free, with the permission of the mods, to "create" other sorts of services. Facebookish, Twitter, MySpace. But they'll all be done using LJ for the convenience of the players.
4. Commenting on blogged journal entries (as permitted by the pup) will resume.

In general, you may think of your pups' journal as their home, both actual and virtual. If something arises that is not covered by these rules, contacted one of your friendly Mods.
