Drop Policy
From Gotham: Year One Wiki
While we hate to see anyone go, we understand that there comes a time when a character is no longer working for you or you've reached the end of the story you were telling with them. In that instance, Gotham: Year One allows for players to drop a character, effectively turning the PC into an NPC.
If you need to drop a character, we'd ask that you follow this procedure so that we can keep the continuity of the game and make gameplay as easy as possible:
1. Talk to your character's friend's players -- Dropping a character usually leaves someone in the lurch. Be respectful of your fellow players and give them a heads up about your character's imminent non-played status. Because all characters remain in the city, dropping should not be done lightly or without consultation of the players with characters who will be affected by the drop.
2. Email the mods -- in order to formally drop a character, you should email the mods of your intentions. We'd ask that you turn over the password for a dropped pup (unless it's a paid journal, in which case, feel free to hang onto it until the paid time runs out) and let us know who, if anyone, is granted socking rights. We'd also like if you had a plan of some sort for what your character is doing now that they're no longer a PC. This can be as simple as "He's going to open a flower shop and will do flower delivery in the afternoons." The mods will take care of moving your character on the wiki from 'current' to 'dropped'.
3. After the mods have replied, email the player list and let everyone know what's up. You don't have to explain why you're dropping a character, only that you are and what that means for the character.
As a reminder, all former PCs are open to application or adoption immediately. If you'd like a temporary hold on the character, let the mods know when you email them.
