Plots

A plot is a planned event, usually involving several characters that goes beyond normal character interaction. Anything that changes the gameworld, involved death or major destruction, involves defining a previously undefined part of the gameworld including Gods, demons, new science or powers, creates new power balances, or requires the participation of NPCs outside of a character's personal NPCs (family members).

Plots must be submitted to the moderators at least one month prior to the planned start date. They will be evaluated for:

   i) coherency of plotting
   ii) value for character development
   iii) value for city development
   iv) planned effects
   v) unplanned effects
   vi) broader implications, including precedent

When should I submit a plot to the mods?

Plots should be sent to the mods for approval when you've come up with the entire plot, beginning to end and enlisted any necessary players with participating characters as well as lined up any sockers for the villains/NPCs. Just sounding out ideas doesn't require a formal submission and won't be treated as one. "Can I do blow up the cathedral?" isn't a plot submission, it's just a question that would lead to a plot if the answer was yes.

If a plot involves a substantial number of pups, we ask that you submit it a month in advance. Smaller plots should have a minimum of two weeks lead time. Also, when suggesting dates, please check the plot calendar for other plots so not to overburden the muns involved or overrun other smaller but essential-to-character plots.

Plot Runner

Every plot should have a single designated plot runner whose job it is to ensure that the plot runs smoothly. Duties include being the point person for communicating with the mods on any issues or special requests related to the plot, making sure all plot threads are appropriately tagged, writing the plot page for the wiki and notifying the game about any noticeable events taking place.

Plot submission form

Use the form below as a guideline for your plot submissions. Send it in an email (not as an attachment) to the mods, who will get back to you with any questions or clarifications before scheduling it on the calendar and giving you your approval. Plots are not approved until the dates have been confirmed and added to the calendar.

Plot Summary

Summary of the prosposed events of the plot. What arc is this plot expected follow? (Please include clear information on the plot's beginning, middle and resolution. This should take the form of a brief overview of the plot and a breakout of the major scenic action, but does not require plotting out of every element of the scenes or every scene.)

Purpose of the Plot

What purpose does this plot serve for the characters involved and the gameworld at large? This doesn't have to be enormous, but if you're blowing up cathedrals, we'd like there to be a reason and a lasting impact, for which see the next section: Plot Impact.

Plot Impact

How do you expect this plot to impact Gotham on both a small and wide scale? What will be the impact on the PCs and NPCs involved? Be sure to explain fully any new backstory or game events that this plot would require.

Special circumstances

Will this plot require coordination with the police department? Hospital or clinics? University? Are the rifts involved?
